Culinary food lab

Here are some of the dishes I made this week in my food lab!  We have it monday-friday for 2 hours!  We have to make a full meal everytime and present it to the master chef to be graded!  When we are finished with our meals we get to eat and enjoy them!  Some things we have made are: vanilla gelato with strawberrys, fried duck, liver hearts, cheese puffs, homemade noodles with Fettuchinne sauce, sliced potatoes, risotto and beef with artichokes.  We work in groups of 2 or 3 each day with the same partners! 

Caro and Sons

This was our 4 course dinner at Caro and sons!  It is a very high-end restuarant and our professor is friends with the owner!  This was our first week of school celebration dinner!  We all got every course of the meal! It was incredible and I am lucky I didnt have to pay for it!

My apartment!!

After a stressful living situation, we are finally all moved and settled in!  We have a full kitchen, bathroom and family room for the three of us!  We also have a big bedroom with 3 beds and a walk in closet!  It is perfect and in a really safe location!  I love my roommates!  One is in my sorority and the other is a friend I have known since high school!  We still don't have internet but will figure it out eventually!

Walking Tour

On Sunday after the school orientation at Apicuis we had a pre-paid tour guide that did a walking tour of Florence for our group! It was very fun and interesting except it down poured rain the entire time so made it hard to hear and walk!  We also went to the Michealangelo museum which was incredible! 

2nd day of school!

This is me in culinary lab!  we made onions with liver and then liver bruschetta on top of bread!  I did not enjoy any of this haha

Italian food so far!

The pizza is from Dante's and the other dishes are from the 4 course meal we had at Ganzo.  Ganzo is the restuarante that is through our school and where we work every week!  It is a restuarnate put on by the students and we get to eat there for free!

Ponte Vecchio

Our first real night in Florence, Italy (Friday) we visited the Ponte Vecchio bridge and took pictures and sat and listened to live music!  We also ate at Dante's that night which is a pizza place right across the bridge with some of our group from WSU!  The 5 people in the picture our my traveling partners and friends from college!

first day of schoo!

This is our first day of school in culinary lab! We made duck with chocolate sauce, nuts and dried fruit on top!  We also fried apples for the side.  Along with this dish we mage spinage crepes!  It was all so yummy!  It took about 2 1/2 hours to prepare it all and you work in groups of 2 or 3! 

We also have lecture class from 9-12:30 everyday where we do italian language, wine and food business management and food lecture!  School days are long and hard but fun! 

We made it!!

After a long day/night of traveling we arrived in Florence on time and in the heat of the day!!! We checked into our plus Florence hostile and walked around the town! We had lunch at zaza's which was a cute little restaurant outside! We layed in the sun at the very top of our hostile called the terrace! Our first night we met our group at ponnte vechio bridge and ate dinner at a pizza place close by! Today we are moving into our apartment and eating dinner at ganzo which is the restaurant we will be working out! I am in love with Florence so far and can't wait to experience more!!

Packed and ready to leave!!

Only 2 days before the big traveling day!  I somehow managed to fit all of my clothes, shoes and necessities into 1 suitcase and 1 backpack!  I leave Thursday afternoon and head on a 9 1/2 hours flight to Paris! From there I have a 2 hour flight to Florence!  I arrive in Florence on Friday, May 13th around noon!  Me, along with 4 of my traveling partners are staying in a hostile in Florence the night of the 13th!  We move into our apartments on Saturday, May 14th!
